Meet the team at Boss!
Michael Surtees: Salon Owner since 1983.

Hairdressing since 1977
Specialises in Ladies and Men’s cutting. Oh and not so high profile work perming.
Just passionate about the salon; we moved to the new premises in April 2005, then opened our beauty rooms and started working with Pat (my wife).
Very appreciative of the time spent training the team. We have a good relationship with Lancaster and Morecambe College for early development of the Young Design Team and Beauty Team. We also invest in development training with Wella, Dermalogica, GHD and locally with the Furness Enterprise. This training is ongoing and is reviewed regularly to get the best training and value from these sources for our team.
I believe that the Team show a great deal of commitment to good standards, I am very proud of what we achieve as a Team.
I am also deeply grateful that so many people come to the Salon. There are so many that have been coming since I first started in 1977. I find that to be quite incredible! On our way home we often comment ‘what a lot of nice people come to the Salon!’
Apart from the salon, I also enjoy my home life with Patricia and Nikki sharing time with them in the garden, cycling, walking and skiing. We have also been tandem cycling, great fun!
I have also developed a weakness for fine Spanish red wine and Scottish whisky. Nothing wrong with that!
Sharon Richardson: Senior Designer and Trainer.

Hairdressing since 1975 (much longer than Mike)
System Professional Product Specialist
Specialises in Ladies and Men’s Cutting, also perming.
I have been with the salon since it first started in 1983. I had a 5 year vacation from Mike in 1995 when I had my own Salon in Ulverston. I enjoy my work and try to offer a special level of commitment to the salon and especially my clients who I have become very close to. We work closely as a team. We have regular meetings to discuss aspects of salon life which may need adjusting.
My other passions are my cats and my holidays.
Claire Needham: Salon Manager, Senior Designer, Senior Colourist and Trainer.

Hairdressing Since 2002
Specialises in Colour and Ladies and Men’s Cutting
Wella Professionals Master Colour Expert Award in 2008
Paul Mitchell Product Specialist.
I started work in the salon in February 2006 after various hairdressing positions. My previous position was in a salon which also had beauty rooms. I enjoy the 2 different sides to the work.
Since working in the salon I have become a Senior Designer, and a Senior Colourist.
The training for this has at times been very intense to the point of wondering if I wanted to carry on with it! However, with the support of the salon, my family and my own determination to succeed, I have and I am extremely proud of my Wella Professionals Master Colour Expert Award which has recognised me as one of only 200 of the UK’s top professional Colourists.
I have now become the Salon Manager extending my roles and responsibilities. Working closely with Mike and Pat together ensuring we have a good team, and that the Salon is running well. Especially well for the benefit of our clients! I find this very rewarding and satisfying.
So if there are any problems please speak with me.
My other passions are my allotment which I work with my family. It is such fun and a complete change from the salon, fresh air and fun! I also have a pug called Charlie and a new member to my home team, a Brussels Griffon called Pricilla.

It has made me made me a better hairdresser.
I also work with Mike, Sharon and Claire as a trainer. I enjoy working with the other members of the team and I enjoy the training. I know that I contribute to the success of the Team.

Hannah Huddleston, Beauty Therapist.

I qualified in beauty therapy in 2008 and started specialising in Jessica Manicures and Pedicures, Bio-sculpture gel nails, make-up and waxing. I have also qualified in the Lash Perfect Semi Permanent Eyelashes. I joined the team in 2009 and built up my confidence and learnt new skills such as ‘St Tropez tans and Dermalogica’. There are so many different services that we do that we tend to specialise in certain areas. I also have become passionate with the Dermalogica skin care and treatments that we do; I loved the training in Glasgow. The results are amazing and feel great too. Other than work I like to spend my time drinking wine and eating Chinese’s J

I also specialised and qualified in Gel Nails, Semi-Permanent eye Lashes, Spray Tanning and Threading. I love mixing 3 treatments together and creating ‘Wow Brows’, a mixture of treatments, threading, waxing and tinting. Eyes that will look absolutely amazing! I have just recently joined the team and I am really enjoying it so far. I look forward to my future at Boss Hair Studio & Beauty Rooms. In my spare time I try to keep fit, I enjoy my comforts, namely southern comfort and lots of ice and a good Chinese meal. Just a bit too much! However, a good boogie helps.
Pat Surtees, Beauty Therapist.

Beauty Since 2004
Specialising in Dermalogica Facials, Bio-Sculpture gel nails and Thermal Auricular Therapy Ear Candling.
I have now worked in the salon for a number of years. It was quite a shock working with my husband.
I have enjoyed working in the salon; especially with our other two beauties. It has been a huge change for me from my previous management career in catering. I feel it has been a challenge to be so involved with the salon and learning about the beauty industry.
I enjoy the work and helping the team. We really do have a lot of fun together. Not just enjoying the work but having a drink together and having pizza nights.
I have become so passionate about dermalogica products I just want to talk about them to everybody and show people how good they are and what they can do for you. Even Mike has started using the ‘Shave Range’ and wonders why he didn’t start using it before!
I enjoy the salon, our house and the garden. We both enjoy our holidays and love our skiing; I try to keep fit so I can eat more, my love of food! Cycling even on the back of a tandem, some Spanish or other wine and skiing.
Ann Brown, reception and office

I love coming into work and I also like some of the treats that I am allowed!
I am also a family girl with lots of interests in being social and keeping fit at the same time
